London Philharmonic Orchestra

Creative direction, show design and multi-camera direction for 20 shows at an empty Royal Festival Hall during the pandemic of 2020/21.

In collaboration with long-term partner Nick Gray, we embarked on a transformative cinematic project with the show design and capture of twenty performances of the London Philharmonic Orchestra at London's Royal Festival Hall, streamed into homes worldwide every Wednesday during the In The Stream Of Life season in 2020/21.

By placing cameras at eye level on stage, we witnessed a new, intimate connection, going beyond the boundaries of the stage and music hall. We captured glimpses exchanged between players and conductor, intertwining orchestral colours with the symphony of sound, forming a synesthetic experience.

During the pandemic, our collaboration revitalised classical music, pushing the boundaries of capturing and experiencing a classical orchestra. The fusion of colour, light, music, and emotion became a beacon of inspiration, showcasing the transformative power of art in challenging times.

Our venture received worldwide acclaim, earning 5-star reviews and becoming a seminal project in the orchestra's journey. The marriage of visual and sonic artistry left a lasting impression, captivating audiences as the London Philharmonic Orchestra ventured into new territory.

Since this first In The Stream Of Life series, I have led the design and direction of 40 shows at the Royal Festival Hall and directed groundbreaking multi-camera films, pushing the boundaries of classical music within contemporary culture.
